Referee Osire Juma Handed Six Months Suspension Over Poor Officiation

By Frank Kamuntu

In a decisive move, the Referees Disciplinary Panel (RDP) has handed down a six-month suspension to Mr. Juma Osire, the first assistant referee in Match No.76 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

The suspension follows Osire’s contentious decision during the clash between Vipers SC and Kitara FC at St. Mary’s Stadium.

During the 1st minute of additional time beyond the regular 90 minutes, Kitara FC found the back of the net, only to have the goal disallowed by Osire for an alleged offside.

However, video footage of the incident raised questions, as it suggested that none of the Kitara FC players were in an offside position.

As a consequence, Osire is barred from officiating football at all levels for the next six months, effective immediately.

“Following his repeated pattern of behavior, Mr. Osire is forwarded to the Investigatory Chamber of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee for further investigation,” read FUFA’s statement.
