Former Liverpool player Sadio Mané has wed his long-time girlfriend, Aisha Tamba who is just 19yrs old.
The exact duration of the couple’s relationship remains undisclosed. The private nuptials took place in Keur Massar, a district in Senegal’s capital city, Dakar, just a week shy of the Africa Cup of Nations’ commencement.
Mané, now playing for Al-Nassr, not only won Aisha’s heart but also financed her education at a private college in Mbao. As a senior student there, Aisha’s academic journey was made easier by the footballer’s generosity.
Born in Casamance, a town adjacent to Mané’s birthplace, Aisha shares not only her husband’s Islamic faith but also his penchant for privacy. During his six-year tenure with Liverpool, which concluded in 2022, Mané kept his romantic life under wraps.
Back in 2022, when asked about his ideal life partner, Mané had stated: “I’ve seen a lot of girls asking me why I am not married, but sorry you might be wasting your time. The woman I marry will not be on social networks. I want to marry a woman who respects God and prays well. Everyone has their own way of making their choice of love.”
Mané, who had a brief stint with Bayern Munich post his Liverpool departure, is currently a part of the Saudi Arabian team Al-Nassr, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. He joined the affluent Saudi team after a challenging year in Germany with Bayern.
While Mané gears up for the Africa Cup of Nations, his new wife Aisha is reportedly committed to continuing her studies. The 31-year-old’s first match as a married man will be against Gambia on January 15th.
Meanwhile, Senegal’s president, Macky Sall, also joked about Mane’s new martial status during the national team’s traditional send-off before the start of their Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
‘First of all, I would like to warmly congratulate our national Nianthi, Sadio Mane, who has just got married… I called him up so that we could applaud him and wish him a happy marriage,’ Sall said.
‘May God bless your home and your descendants. From now on you have another job apart from scoring goals.’
Sall’s reference to Mane as ‘Nianthi’ is a name that means lion and warrior in southern Senegalese dialect.
