Nile Breweries Ltd (NBL) recently clinched the Silver Award at the esteemed 2023/24 Employer of the Year (EYA) Awards, an event orchestrated by the Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE).

The ceremony, which took place at Speke Resort Munyonyo, was themed “Employer Competitiveness post-COVID”. It aimed to evaluate post-COVID-19 Employer Competitiveness across three key domains: managerial procedures, resources, and their influence on corporate performance.

It mirrors the brewery’s supportive, inclusive, and empowering ethos. She conveyed her appreciation to all NBL staff for their unwavering commitment and diligence, and to Managing Director – Adu Rando for his strategic leadership.

Nalubega stated, “Our longstanding tradition of investing in our employees’ development, providing continuous training programs, especially through our online platform University, competitive benefits, fostering a supportive work culture, and upholding diversity, equity, and inclusion has been pivotal in our success,”

She added, “As we celebrate this significant milestone, we reaffirm our commitment to being the employer of choice in Uganda as we create a future with more cheers. Our employees are at the core of everything we do. We strive to create a workplace where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.”

The awards saw participation from over 300 companies and received responses from over 1712 individuals. Douglas Opio, the CEO of FUE, stated that the awards acknowledge decent work and encourage exemplary business practices in the workplace.

Prof. Julius Kikooma, the Lead Consultant of the survey, pointed out that the survey evaluated five aspects; Quality and Performance, Innovation, Risk and Compliance, Customer Experience, and Workplace Culture.

In total, there were 15 victors across 14 categories, including the Small and Medium Enterprise category and the agriculture sector among others.

The event was overseen by Luc Pirson, Head of Cooperation at the Embassy of Belgium. He remarked that the Employer of the Year awards are essential to promote a fair society.
