A tragic fire incident at Victory Nursery and Primary School in Busia district claimed the lives of four pupils on Sunday evening.
The fire, which consumed a boys’ dormitory, also resulted in severe burn injuries for two other pupils, who are now receiving treatment in the hospital.
The school’s head teacher, Stephen Ojambo, confirmed the unfortunate incident. The remains of the deceased pupils have been moved to Busia Health Center IV for autopsy.
The origin of the fire, suspected to have ignited around midnight, is currently under investigation by the authorities. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
