Anderson Burora, the recently suspended Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) of Rubaga Division, has pledged to persist in his anti-corruption crusade.
Burora transferred his duties and authority to Doreen Keita Kagabi, who is currently serving as the Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) for Kampala City.
On Monday, March 18, 2024, Burora addressed journalists, stating that he is undeterred and that his actions have always been in the interest of President Museveni and the nation. He further promised to continue exposing corrupt government officials.
In a post on his official X platform on Monday, Burora stated, “The issue isn’t about the job as Madam Anita perceived, but about the service. I had the choice to either keep the job or stay true to my conscience. I chose the latter. During my tenure, I may not have satisfied everyone for various reasons, but I primarily served as I was supposed to. I may not be able to quantify my legacy as the President’s representative, but I am confident that I represented him to the best of my abilities every single day.”
Last week, Hajji Yunus Kakande, the Secretary in the Office of the President, suspended Burora to allow for an investigation into his alleged involvement in land disputes. However, other sources suggest that Speaker Anita Among complained to President Museveni about a group of government officials who have been undermining the Parliament and its leaders via social media platforms.
Meanwhile, the appointed caretaker, Doreen Keita Kagabi, has expressed her readiness to collaborate with everyone in the office and to investigate the corruption allegations that led to Burora’s suspension.
