Popular Kenyan comedian Fred Omondi died in a road crash on Saturday.
Omondi who is the younger brother of celebrated Comedian and actor Eric Omondi, was reportedly involved in an accident along Outering Road and the incident was reported at Buruburu Police Station.
Following his death, various comedians and content creators mourned Fred’s demise describing him as one of the top talents in the industry.
“He was more than a colleague; he was family,” Terence Creative stated.
“Together we suffered, together we learned and together we inspired, made people laugh and created great memories. All this I will treasure and hold dearly.”
Eric Omondi also took to his social media to mourn his late brother saying, “My brother, it is not well. God receive you, till next time.”
On Friday night, Fred hosted a Girl’s Night Out event at Captains Lounge and Grill in Athi River. Videos shared on social media showed the comedian having fun alongside his friends in the lounge.
The comedian was also set to host another event on Saturday at the BVB Lounge in Meru.
Fred followed in his brother’s footsteps and emerged as one of the top comedians in the country. He came to the limelight during segments on the Churchill Show and later embarked on hosting events as an emcee.
In a previous interview on KTN, he talked about the opportunity to branch out on his own and do shows across East Africa.
“What people don’t know is that the TV show gave me a huge platform and I capitalised on it,” he stated.
