At a time when confusion and uncertainty clouded the NRM Youth elections, one voice rose above the noise — that of Mercy Kanyesigye, the National Female Youth MP aspirant for 2026–2031.
While others were content to remain silent after the suspension of the elections, Mercy seized the moment to remind the party of its responsibility to the young people whose democratic expression had been put on hold.
In her statement, Mercy spoke with both empathy and authority, appreciating the thousands of youth delegates who bore the cost of travel, time, and resources only to be left without closure. “Their sacrifices should not go in vain,” she emphasized, urging the NRM leadership to quickly announce new dates for the elections.
Observers say her tone was not confrontational, but constructive — the mark of a leader who knows how to balance loyalty to the party with accountability to the people.
Mercy’s intervention has earned her admiration from many within NRM and beyond. To youth across Uganda, she is proving to be more than a candidate — she is becoming a symbol of steady, people-centered leadership. Her philosophy of “Purpose. Progress. People.” continues to resonate, positioning her as a voice of reason and a champion of inclusivity.
“Mercy has the courage to speak truth, but also the wisdom to speak it in unity,” remarked a delegate from Northern Uganda. “That is the kind of leadership our youth need today.”
As the NRM charts the way forward, one thing is clear: Mercy Kanyesigye is not waiting to lead tomorrow — she is already leading today, inspiring the youth to remain hopeful, organized, and ready to take their rightful place in shaping Uganda’s future.
