Opposition Leaders Demand Release of Abducted NUP Coordinator

Opposition leaders in Mbarara have united to demand the unconditional release of Bright Muhumuza, the National Unity Platform’s (NUP) coordinator for the Ankole sub-region. Muhumuza was reportedly abducted by armed men in an unidentified vehicle on Tuesday evening ¹.

Peter Mpaka, NUP’s General Secretary for Mbarara City, condemned the abduction, stating that Muhumuza is neither a rebel nor a criminal. Mpaka’s concerns were echoed by other opposition leaders, who are calling for Muhumuza’s immediate and safe release.

This incident has sparked widespread concern among opposition parties, with many viewing it as a blatant attack on their rights and freedoms. The opposition is urging the government to take immediate action to ensure Muhumuza’s safety and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
