The Karuma Bridge on the Kampala-Gulu highway has been closed to facilitate emergency repairs. The Ministry of Works and Transport announced the closure to allow engineers to install expansion joints on the bridge.
Motorists are advised to take alternative routes, adding extra miles to their journeys. This is the second time the bridge has been closed, prompting appeals from local leaders and the business community for swift completion of the repairs.
