The Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye (@ChiefMuzzukulu), yesterday officially flagged off ONC coordinators from across the country to spearhead grassroots mobilisation and oversee the forthcoming Village Women Council Elections scheduled for 23rd July 2026 and the Local Council I (LC I) Elections on 28th July 2026.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held at the ONC headquarters in Kyambogo, Hajjat Namyalo tasked the coordinators with intensifying mobilisation efforts and encouraging wananchi to overwhelmingly support National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidates who embody the Movement’s ideology, patriotism, integrity, and commitment to Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.
She emphasized that Local Council leadership forms the foundation of effective governance and plays a critical role in promoting community development, supporting wealth creation initiatives, safeguarding the rights of Bibanja holders, strengthening village security, resolving local disputes, and protecting citizens’ property.
The ONC Manager further urged Ugandans to elect leaders of proven integrity, competence, and selfless dedication to public service, noting that visionary grassroots leadership is essential for accelerating development and improving livelihoods.
During her address, Hajjat Namyalo reaffirmed the Office of the National Chairman’s unwavering commitment to strengthening NRM structures across the country despite financial constraints. She disclosed that although the NRM Secretariat initially received Shs50 billion to facilitate party activities, the ONC had not been allocated funds despite prior guidance from H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Following consultations with the President, she said, a supplementary budget was approved to enable the office to continue implementing its nationwide mobilisation, monitoring, and political education programmes.
She expressed profound appreciation to President Museveni for his continued support, describing his intervention as a demonstration of visionary and inclusive leadership that prioritizes strengthening the Movement from the grassroots.
“The Office of the National Chairman remains steadfast in advancing the President’s vision through effective political mobilisation, ideological orientation, monitoring government programmes, and ensuring that the NRM remains firmly rooted among the people,” Hajjat Namyalo stated.
She reminded the coordinators that limited resources should never weaken their commitment to serving the Movement and the country, urging them to remain united, disciplined, and focused on the collective mission of delivering victory for the NRM.
Hajjat Namyalo also cautioned against internal divisions and personal interests, stressing that unity and teamwork are indispensable in consolidating support for the party ahead of the elections. She further called for accountability in the management of public resources to ensure government programmes continue delivering tangible benefits to ordinary Ugandans.
Reflecting on previous political challenges encountered by the office, she reaffirmed that ONC would remain resilient and continue strengthening grassroots mobilisation across the country. She encouraged coordinators to uphold the values of patriotism, discipline, and service while intensifying voter mobilisation in every village.
She expressed confidence that with unity, dedication, and effective grassroots engagement, the National Resistance Movement will register overwhelming victories in both the Village Women Council and LC I elections.
