The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has embarked on a field tour to assess the progress and impact of beneficiaries under the ONC Empowerment Programme across the country.
During a recent visit to Kitukutwe in Wakiso District, Hajjat Namyalo witnessed an inspiring success story that highlights the transformative impact of the programme initiated on behalf of H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
In June 2023, Mr. Abdul Karim Tamale received support from the ONC Empowerment Programme in the form of 200 chicks, feeds equivalent to 400 chicks, and vaccines to establish a poultry farming enterprise. The intervention was aimed at enhancing household income and promoting sustainable wealth creation.
Three years later, Mr. Tamale’s poultry venture has grown significantly, with his stock increasing from the initial 200 chicks to approximately 7,000 birds. The enterprise currently generates an average profit of Shs12 million every 35 days, demonstrating the potential of targeted empowerment initiatives to transform livelihoods.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Tamale expressed gratitude to President Museveni and Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo for the support that enabled him to establish and expand his business. He noted that the assistance provided through the programme laid the foundation for his success and improved the economic well-being of his family.
The remarkable growth of Mr. Tamale’s enterprise underscores the effectiveness of the ONC Empowerment Programme in promoting entrepreneurship, job creation, and wealth generation among Ugandans. His journey from a small-scale poultry farmer to a successful agribusiness entrepreneur serves as a testament to the government’s commitment to empowering citizens with practical tools for economic transformation.
