KAMPALA, UGANDA — St Lawrence University has extended an offer of 100 bursaries to the Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC), aimed at supporting students facing financial challenges in accessing university education, ONC Manager Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo has announced.
Speaking today, Namyalo disclosed the development, describing it as a timely opportunity to ease the financial burden on students whose academic ambitions might otherwise be constrained by the high cost of higher education.
Under the arrangement between St Lawrence University and the ONC, 100 selected students are set to benefit from the bursary scheme, which forms part of broader efforts to widen access to higher learning for young Ugandans, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Namyalo noted that the partnership highlights the growing importance of collaboration between educational institutions and public-facing programmes in creating meaningful opportunities for the country’s youth. She emphasised that such initiatives align with the ONC’s broader mandate of mobilising support systems that improve the welfare and future prospects of Ugandans.
While the announcement has generated interest among prospective beneficiaries, the ONC is yet to release full details regarding the application process, eligibility criteria, and other conditions governing access to the bursaries.
