The United Arab Emirates has outlined the minimum monthly income foreign nationals must earn to qualify for a residency permit in the country, according to guidelines published by the UAE government.
Under the published requirements, the income threshold an applicant must meet varies depending on their housing arrangement at the time of application.
Income Thresholds Based on Housing Status
Foreign nationals whose employers provide housing accommodation are required to earn a minimum of AED 3,000 (approximately N1,112,838) per month to be considered eligible for a residency permit.
Applicants who do not receive employer-provided housing, however, face a higher income requirement. Such individuals must demonstrate a minimum monthly income of AED 4,000 (approximately N1,483,784) to satisfy the financial solvency condition.
According to the UAE government’s official guidelines: “Financial solvency must be demonstrated, with a minimum monthly income of AED 3,000 plus employer-provided housing, or AED 4,000 if housing is not provided.”
Additional Requirements Apply
The UAE government clarified that financial solvency is just one of several conditions applicants must fulfil when applying for a residency permit. While the income threshold forms a key qualifying requirement, the published guidelines indicate that additional criteria must also be met alongside the earnings benchmark.
