The Parish Development Model (PDM) continues to empower households across Uganda by providing beneficiaries with opportunities to invest in income-generating enterprises and improve their livelihoods.
One such beneficiary is Madam Hajira Namaganda, a resident of Mugona Village, Mugona Parish, Kapyanga Sub-county in Bugiri District. In August 2025, she received UGX 1 million under the Parish Development Model and chose to invest the funds in dairy farming.
Using the PDM support, Hajira purchased a dairy cow, laying the foundation for a sustainable source of household income. The cow is currently in calf, and she is optimistic about the future benefits of the investment, particularly through milk production and sales.
According to Hajira, the dairy enterprise is expected to provide a steady stream of income that will improve her family’s welfare and strengthen her economic stability. Beyond personal benefits, her investment has also created demand for locally available agricultural inputs, including animal feeds and pesticides, thereby supporting other businesses within the community.
Hajira revealed that her decision to invest in dairy farming was inspired by fellow PDM beneficiaries whose livelihoods had significantly improved after utilizing the funds productively. Witnessing their success motivated her to embrace the opportunity and venture into an enterprise with long-term growth potential.
“I was encouraged by the success stories of other PDM beneficiaries who had improved their daily incomes through productive investments. Their achievements inspired me to make good use of the funds and invest in dairy farming,” she said.
Today, Hajira remains optimistic that her dairy project will continue to grow and contribute to her household’s economic transformation. Her story is a testament to the impact of the Parish Development Model in empowering communities, promoting wealth creation, and fostering self-reliance among Ugandans.
As more beneficiaries embrace productive investments, PDM continues to demonstrate its potential as a catalyst for sustainable socio-economic development across the country.
