Ms. Kyaterekera Annet, a resident of Namaato East Village, Namaato Parish, Namutumba Sub-county in Namutumba District, is among the beneficiaries whose lives have been transformed through the Parish Development Model (PDM).
Before receiving PDM support, Annet had already ventured into poultry farming but was constrained by inadequate capital, which limited the growth of her enterprise. With a vision of establishing a large-scale poultry business, she needed additional resources to expand her operations and improve productivity.
Upon receiving UGX 1 million under the PDM program, Annet invested the funds strategically in her poultry project. She purchased additional chicks and essential poultry equipment, including feeders, drinkers, and vaccines, which significantly improved the management and health of her birds.
The support provided through PDM accelerated the growth of her enterprise. Today, Annet proudly manages a flock of over 700 birds, a remarkable achievement that reflects her dedication, hard work, and effective utilization of the funds received.
Despite her current success, Annet remains ambitious and forward-looking. She has set her sights on expanding her poultry farm to 2,000 birds. With ample space available at her homestead and a strong commitment to the business, she is confident of achieving this goal in the near future.
Annet attributes her progress to the Parish Development Model, noting that the initiative provided the much-needed boost that transformed her dream into a thriving enterprise. She expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the Government of Uganda for championing the PDM program, which has empowered many households to improve their livelihoods and create sustainable sources of income.
Her story is a testament to how targeted government interventions, combined with determination and hard work, can unlock economic opportunities and drive household transformation.
