The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, yesterday, commenced a nationwide monitoring tour to assess the progress and impact of beneficiaries supported under the ONC Empowerment Programme.
During a recent visit to Kitukutwe in Wakiso District, Hajjat Namyalo encountered an inspiring success story that demonstrates the transformative power of government empowerment initiatives championed by H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Abdul Karim Tamale, received support from the ONC Empowerment Programme in June 2023 in the form of 200 chicks, poultry feeds equivalent to 400 chicks, and vaccines to kick-start a poultry farming enterprise. The support was intended to promote household income generation and wealth creation.
Three years later, Mr. Tamale has successfully expanded his poultry project into a thriving agribusiness. His stock has grown from the initial 200 chicks to approximately 7,000 birds, and the enterprise now generates an average profit of Shs12 million every 35 days.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Tamale expressed his appreciation to President Museveni and Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo for the timely intervention that enabled him to establish and grow his business. He noted that the support not only improved his family’s livelihood but also created opportunities for employment and economic growth within the community.
Hajjat Namyalo commended Mr. Tamale for effectively utilizing the support provided and encouraged other beneficiaries to embrace hard work, proper management, and innovation to maximize the benefits of government empowerment programmes.
Mr. Tamale’s remarkable journey from a small-scale poultry farmer to a successful entrepreneur highlights the positive impact of the ONC Empowerment Programme in promoting entrepreneurship, job creation, and sustainable wealth generation.
